EPHESUS & HOUSE OF MOTHER MARY
After meeting your guide on the pier, you’ll set out to Ephesus, considered as one of the most preserved ancient cities in the world. An ancient Greek and later a Roman city, it was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the classical Greek era and the second largest city of the Roman Empire after Rome. The city was famed for the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Ephesus was one of the Seven Chruches of Asia that are cited in the Book of Revelation. You will explore the Forum, the Odeon, the Library of Celsus, the Thermal Baths of Scolastika and the Great Theater, built in the Greek era and reconstructed in the Roman period. The tour will continue with the visit to The House of Mary, another attraction, located only a 10 minutes drive away from Ephesus. Catholic pilgrims visit the house based on the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there until her Assumption.
After departing The House of Mary, lunch will be taken at a local turkish restaurant. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to see a Turkish carpet demonstration, and free time for shopping before returning to Kusadasi.
Included services: Transportation by a private air-conditioned chaffeur-driven vehicle, professional tour guide licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, lunch excluding beverages, all entrance fees, extra entrance fee for The House of Mary, parking fees, petrol, pick up & drop off at pier or hotel, all taxes.
